An Israeli security guard shot dead a 13-year-old Palestinian girl named Ruqayya Abu Eid for attempting to stab him. According to Dailymail report the knife-wielding teen ran toward a security guard at the entrance to Anatot settlement, near her family home, and he opened fire at her.
Ruqayya’s father arrived at the scene after the incident and was arrested, Samri added. Other members of her family, however, contradicted the police’s account.
The teen’s mother, Reeda Abu Eid, said there had been no trouble before her daughter left the family home, a tent in the Palestinian village Anata.
‘Her father works in a farm and Ruqayya used to go to him. I didn’t see her when she left so I expected she had gone to her father,’ she said. ‘Ruqayya is a small girl, how could she stab someone?’
Pictures from the ground appeared to show a knife on the ground near Ruqayya’s body.
Israeli lawmaker Esawi Freige, from the left-wing Meretz party, criticized the killing of the 13-year-old.
‘Even if she had a knife, it would have been possible to arrest a girl that age instead of killing her,’ he said.’Instead of attacking the Swedish foreign minister and claiming that her comments are detached from reality, Netanyahu should check what’s happening in his country and how children are being killed without a trial.’
