Rio Ferdinand Was Casual When He Really Should Not Have Been

Soccer players are required to take illegal substances tests regularly, and these tests help ensure that the playing field is fair. If a player misses a test, they face significant consequences. In 2003, English former soccer player Rio Ferdinand missed one of those tests and believed there would be no repercussions.

Ferdinand’s absence from the test led to him being banned from playing for eight months. He subsequently missed several important competitions, including the Euro 2004.
