Paul Merson Couldn’t Let Go of His Harmful Habits

Paul Merson, an Arsenal legend in the late ’80s and early ’90s, had a flourishing career before him. He is still thought of as one of the best players for the Gunners today. In 1994 he confessed to abusing illegal substances as well as drug addiction and gambling, which was even harder to kick compared to his other issues.

Merson publicly discussed his difficulties in a press conference and later received help from his club. After three months of rehabilitation, he was able to return to playing successfully.
