Kim Fields – Then
Kim played Tootie, who was adorable and quirky. Most people didn’t know that Tootie’s full name was Dorothy Ramsey. Kim started playing the role of Tootie when she was ten years old, which is younger than what the character is supposed to be. To make her look taller on screen, they had her constantly skate around on roller skates.
Tootie was used to resolve many real-world dilemmas, such as racism and inappropriate behavior with minors. Tootie first appeared on the show in 1979 and remained until 1988, when the show ended.
