He was abused in the past
In her interview, Catherine told the story of how Kerry Kinder, the kennel’s owner, had found Khan. She said, “He was starving and had broken ribs; he’d been beaten badly– an abused dog. We weren’t sure if it would be humane to put him down because he was in such a bad way.”
Given Khan’s difficult past, Catherine hoped that his future could be different – better.
