Kahn was hurt
When Catherine ran to help Charlotte, she found that Charlotte was unharmed. Although Charlotte was safe, something seemed very wrong with Khan. After Khan fell over and barked, he became totally silent and motionless.
Catherine didn’t understand what happened but realized that Khan wasn’t trying to hurt Charlotte–he was trying to save her. She could see that Khan got injured in the process and needed medical attention right away.
