Margaret Thatcher Was Told Off for Sitting in Queen Victoria’s Chair – False
PM Thatcher’s weekend at Balmoral was less than eventful. She arrived unprepared for the wilderness and wanted nothing more than to get some work done. Even while trying to be productive, she managed to make a mess of herself. Princess Margaret saw her using Queen Victoria’s chair and scolded her harshly.
Though this story is probably made up, it’s interesting to note that the real Balmoral Castle has an armchair once belonging to Elizabeth’s great-great-grandmother, which no one is allowed to sit in. Thatcher likely couldn’t have used it anyway since Victoria was quite small!
