Diana and Margaret Thatcher Took the Balmoral Test – True, Sort of
The “Balmoral Test” is a test that judges whether outsiders are worthy of Royal Family acceptance, and it gets its name from Scotland’s Balmoral Castle. In the show, Diana and Margaret Thatcher seem to have completely opposite results; while Thatcher looks uncomfortable and out-of-place, Diana is lively and charming. Even though this test might be based on reality to some extent, it seems more like an unspoken code of behavior that the guests are supposed to follow.
Even though some aspects of Thatcher and Diana’s visits were embellished or fabricated, the general idea is accurate.
