The entrance is the first thing anybody sees when they arrive at your house, no matter what happens. Many homeowners want to make it feel like a grand arrival, so they opt for a more open floor plan.
We totally agree that it appears to be a misuse of space. After all, isn’t there any more living area remaining if you let the two-story foyer go?
