Kim’s Kimono Line
Kimono was formerly Kimono, and it was previously Skims. That’s correct, Kimmy attempted to name her new company after the Japanese national garment, but it did not go well. In fact, this drama caused so much anger that the mayor of Kyoto wrote to the celebrity, asking her to modify her trademark.
It turns out that selecting words that sound like your own name isn’t the most incredible marketing approach after all. Kim eventually changed the name to Skims as a result of public criticism.
