Barbarella – Jane Fonda
Although we may identify Jane Fonda with her more famous portrayals, she has been acting since the 1960s. In Barbarella (1968), the American actress plays reporter Lynn Paradise, who embarks on an intergalactic journey to find love.
Jane Fonda won the part of a tennis instructor in this film, which was directed by her then-husband. She beat Brigitte Bardot and Sophia Loren to the part, having been cast at age 25. Jane Fonda is still active today, at the age of 80. For decades, she’s been an advocate for social change — and she has two Academy Awards, seven Golden Globes, and an Emmy for acting.
