Elizabeth Taylor was paid $1 million for her work in 1963’s historical epic Cleopatra. This was at the time, a record-breaking pay. Liz donned the robes of the Egyptian Queen, acting alongside her future on-off partner Richard Burton.
The role of the beautiful woman was won by a stunning star over rivals Joan Collins and Sophia Loren. Elizabeth Taylor, an English-American actress, was a hit for the entirety of her career. She’s considered one of Hollywood’s first major stars, as well as one of its finest. She died in 2011 at the age of 79.
