The deceiving praying mantis
The name “praying mantis” has nothing to do with the creature’s habits. This enormous insect eater does not spend its days praying but eating a variety of other insects. Its cuisine varies, but it may consume large invertebrates like crickets or beetles.

But don’t let it deceive you: in this photograph, the creature may appear to be a cute dancing insect enjoying nature, but it’s most likely reaching out its arms as a defense or scaring its food before devouring them. But don’t worry; apparently, it doesn’t consume human digits.
