Babies With Eyeliner
Don’t be alarmed if you see a newborn in India with eyeliner on their eyes. It’s called kajal (sometimes Surma or Kohl), and it’s an ancient eye makeup in the country. Kajal, unlike streamlined eyeliner, is produced from soot rather than a plethora of artificial pigments and colors.
The baby’s bottom lid is made of eyeliner, which is thought to protect the infant from all evil eyes. Some individuals believe this is beneficial to the baby’s eyesight, but there isn’t any scientific evidence for it.
