Whoopi Goldberg offers a disclaimer about cartoons in The Looney Tunes Golden Collection DVDs
In the span of a few decades, many social norms have changed. For example, nowadays, filmmakers and television producers make a more concerted effort not to discriminate against minority groups. However, there was once a time when cartoons were rampant with stereotypes that would be considered offensive by today’s standards.

Though some may classify them as such, clichés and stereotypes shouldn’t be cut out of cartoons. As Whoopi Goldberg says, it would be like denying part of our history. They also show how much progress we’ve made as a collective society.
