A Roman soldier carved a penis into Hadrian’s Wall
While Hadrian’s Wall is a valued World Heritage Site now, that wasn’t always the case. The wall was built by the Romans to protect England from barbarian invaders. And while people are asked not to carve into it now, back then, the Roman soldiers didn’t think much about its value or hole-punching defaced natural beauty.
As seen in the accompanying image, one of the Roman soldiers carved a penis into Hadrian’s Wall. Understandably, the soldier must’ve been bored out of their mind having to keep watch all day. To fight off the monotony and bleakness of their circumstance, they needed some form of entertainment.
