Edith Macefield became a folk hero because she refused to sell her house

It seems that Disney’s animated movie Up is based on a real story. The film tells the story of a man who refuses to sell his house to prevent it from being demolished to build a shopping mall. This resonates with many Disney fans, both adults and children.

In 2006, an 84-year-old woman named Edith Macefield turned down a large offer to sell her Seattle house that would make way for new development. After she sadly passed away, the locals who admired her got tattoos in memory of Macefield’s fearless convictions.
