A millionaire named Cecil Chubb once bought Stonehenge
Stonehenge is now one of England’s most important historical monuments, but a century ago, it was up for sale. Cecil Chubb, a millionaire, bought it as a gift for his wife; however, she rejected it and helped seal its fate as a heritage trail.
Some say that Chubb bought Stonehenge on a whim, while others think he was merely trying to stop it from being bought by an overseas investor. We’re just glad that today everyone can go and see this fascinating structure.
