Walt Disney Was the First to Draw Mickey Mouse
Walt Disney is commonly associated with the creation of Mickey Mouse, but what many people do not know is that it was actually Ub Iwerks, Walt’s best friend and the studio’s chief animator, who drew and animated the character.
Walt Disney’s first popular character was Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, which he lost the rights to in 1928. The only animator who remained with him during that tumultuous time period was Ub Iwerks, who not only became a close friend but also designed Mickey Mouse.
