Piranhas Can Devour a Human in a Matter of Seconds

Piranhas are some of the most feared creatures in the sea, thanks to their portrayal in popular culture. While it’s not recommended to take a swim with a school of hungry and aggressive piranhas, the reality is that most piranhas are actually herbivores.

Secondly, it is implausible that a group of piranhas will strip a fully grown man down to his skeleton in a matter of minutes. A school of 200 fish takes almost an hour to devour their prey, and even carnivorous piranha are usually scavengers and not active predators. Sorry Hollywood, the reality is different from fiction.
