Charging Your Smartphones Overnight Is Bad
The fear that a smartphone may explode or spontaneously combust due to overcharging was not lessened when a particular phone brand started having those exact issues. While the cause was technically attributed to a bad battery design, many people had already assumed that overcharging had something to do with it.

So, let’s see if charging a phone overnight harms the device or its battery. Or even worse, whether it turns the phone into a time bomb. The answer is no. Smartphones are not called “smart” for no good reason. The chips inside your smartphone stop overload by disconnecting the circuits once 100% charge is reached. However, the trickle charge starts up whenever the battery reaches 99%. So, depending on how many times it charges overnight, the battery can start to break down. Even so, the difference it makes over your phone’s lifespan is negligible.
