Depression Cannot Kill
Depression is a genuine sickness that shouldn’t be taken lightly. People suffering from depression often feel that their condition isn’t valid because it’s “just in their head.” This invalidation can lead to increased feelings of worthlessness and hopelessness, which puts them at greater risk for actual self-harm.

Depression is often thought of as a trivial mental illness when in reality, it is the root cause of suicide and has been the tenth leading cause of death in 2017. Consequently, it should be taken seriously—those who don’t receive treatment for depression are more likely to consider suicide than those who do.
