Using an Alarm Clock is a Great Way to Wake Up
For those who don’t enjoy mornings, there may be nothing more frustrating than the ear-piercing sound of an alarm clock going off (whether it’s from an actual physical clock or a phone). Of course, no one likes alarms, but we use them anyway because we need to wake up early — although sometimes we still ignore the alarm; the brave even sleep through it.
However, researchers are now suggesting that we wake up naturally to avoid the harmful consequences of alarm clocks. Alarms can jolt our hearts and trigger high blood pressure. Also, being abruptly awaken by loud noises raises our stress levels and makes us more alert. Instead of blaring alarm clock sounds, we can use “light alarms” from devices like sunrise alarm clocks that seek to simulate the gradual increase in ambient light (just like natural sunrises).
