It’s Easier to Catch a Cold if the Weather Is Cold
Even though it’s common to assume that cold and flu symptoms are caused by cold weather, this isn’t the case. In fact, you can catch a cold during the warm summer months. Viruses cause colds- not weather conditions or eating ice cream.
Rhinoviruses are the root cause of why we get the common cold. A virus is a harmful agent that multiplies within its host cells to produce infections and diseases. In other words, rhinoviruses invade our bodies and take over the healthy throat and nose cells to replicate—aka make more viruses. Since reproducing is their only mission, they don’t care if we’re sick as a result. The good news is you can prevent spreading germs by staying home when you’re ill and washing your hands often!
