Marlon Brando didn’t learn his lines
Marlon Brando, a renowned thespian who spoke six languages and won two Oscars, refused to learn his lines. Instead, he would read them off cue cards held by crew members in his line of sight, which were attached to other actors.
When someone on the set of The Godfather asked him why Brando insisted on doing it, he answered, “Because I have a way of reading them.” For the film The Island of Dr. Moreau, Brando wore an earpiece through which he was fed his lines.
