How Do You Say It?
Some numbers are commonly known by nicknames. For example, most people say “a grand” instead of $1,000, and “a dozen” refers to 12 items.
Clearly, to this individual, calling six of something “half a dozen” was rational. Even though it is still technically accurate, hearing their friend say “two threes” instead opened up phrase options for them.
