The Life of Brigitte Bardot Told Through Rare Vintage Photos

August 4, 2019 by Michael Franklin

Landing Bigger Roles

She was climbing up the ranks in her profession swiftly and steadily. In 1955, Bardot played Andraste, a handmaiden in the movie Helen of Troy, for which she received the Best Actress Award from the Cannes Film Festival. Her appearance on set indicates that she is pushing the wheel of a Trojan during filming for the film. She acted opposite Dirk Bogarde in an English-language production entitled Doctor at Sea that same year.

That picture greatly enhanced her popularity among the English audience. The box office in the United Kingdom revealed that it was one of the top three most popular movies for that year.
