Incredible vintage photos of life in America during the ’50s

July 1, 2019 by Michael Franklin

A star is born

This image marked the start of an illustrious career. That form-fitting Pierre Balmain crimson dress is worn by none other than Brigitte Bardot, a young lady who was cast in The 1956 French drama And God Created Woman. After it was released, Bardet became an overnight sensation when this photograph was taken on the set of And God Created Woman.

Bardot, in the buttoned-up, conservative fifties, personified the type of freedom for which women would fight in years to come. She was gorgeous as well as fierce, and she’s still going strong at 85 years old today.
