Housewife
When we think of the 1950s, the image of a typical housewife from that era comes to mind — such as the one depicted here preparing dinner for her family in her huge kitchen.

In the 1950s, being a stay-at-home mother and spouse was rather typical. From 1950 to 1959, approximately 79% of wives in the United States resided at home. Women also got married considerably younger back then, with the typical age of marriage being 20 years old.
