Translations of Swedish animal names
Swedish animal names are on a whole other level. Like, how is a hippo anything like a horse? It lives in rivers (we think), so that’s fine, but riverhorse? Blubberhunter? Seriously, where did these names come from? It’s called a killer whale because it whale and it kill. Duh!
Inkfish and latewalker, we can get behind, but if you start calling hedgehogs leechcones, you’ve lost us. Are all beaked animals called beakanimal in Swedish or just platypuses? As for flappingmouse, shieldtoad, and washbear, fine. You won those battles, Sweden. We’re going to call racoons washbears from now on.
