Slow down Sweden, leave some for the other colonizers
Unlike many of its European neighbors, Sweden wasn’t a huge colonizer. Sure, the Vikings set sail from Sweden and plundered nearby islands and whatnot, but they didn’t colonize them. Why would they? They stole all of the good stuff and brought them back to Sweden!
Throughout Sweden long history, it possessed five colonies at most, four of which were short-lived. Basically, the central government wasn’t able to maintain order in its colonies and wound up releasing them from their clutches.
