A general disliking of tattoos
In South Korea, people have a general disking of tattoos. They consider their bodies to be temples, and only medical professionals have the right to mark their bodies in any way. That’s not to say that nobody has tattoos in South Korea. In fact, there’s a pretty lengthy documentary about South Korean tattoo parlors on YouTube you should check out.
Basically, tattoos are deemed unclean, and anyone with a tattoo is seen as unfit to hold a job. No, we’re not just talking about face tats or full-body ink. Any tattoo, large or small, can deter employers from hiring you. Those with tattoos usually have them in places that aren’t visible in public.
