Absolutely NO SWEARING!
In Arabic, English, or any other language. You never know who’s listening—it could be a fellow expat or a native who knows your mother tongue. In any case, swearing in public is a fineable and jailable offense and can get you deported if you’re a multiple offender.
This coincides with Dubai’s laws on modesty. Maintaining modesty means looking, behaving, and speaking in a certain way. Now, people like Gordon Ramsay may have a difficult time adapting, but for the rest of us who don’t swear a bluestreak every time someone forgets the lamb sauce shouldn’t have too much of a problem.
