A lot of the scenes of The English Patient, that won the Oscar as Best Movie in 1996 were filmed inside the historical site of Sant’anna in Camprena – a former Olivetan Benedictine monastery from the 15th century – only 6 km away from Pienza. The monastery is now a Hotel (agriturismo) where you can actually sleep in the room shown in the movie.
