FIFA has released the finalists of Ballon D’or, and the list has a new name, Manuel Neuer. The two other players are used to it, Lioness Messi 4 times winner, Cristiano Ronaldo, 2 times winner, and the current holder of the title.
The 2014 Ballon D’or seems to be more complicated with no candidate standing clear above others in chances to win.
Although many argued that Ronaldo is the favorite, based on his performance last season that contributed to Madrid winning both Copa del rey and champions league.
Others say Messi stands a good chance to win, for leading Argentina to the world cup final, even though he didn’t win, he got so close. The four time Ballon D’or had a hard season with Barcelona, going trophy-less in the 2013/14 season.
Manuel Neuer came as surprise that may actually surprise many. Being a Goalkeeper, his chances are low, even though instrumental to Bayern Munich success in the league and the German world cup winning team.
The Uefa President, Mitchel Platini, has hinted that the award deserves a German, a statement that has angered Real Madrid. If the statement is anything to go by, Neuer is the top choice.
However, it is left to voters to decide who clinches the much coveted award come January, 12, 2015.
