Confederation of African Football (CAF) has finally found an answer to its dilemma. Since Morocco was stripped of the hosting right, due their request to postpone the nations tournament, CAF has been faced with the challenge of finding another host.
With many African countries declining, Qatar offered to step in. A step which African football fans called a slap in their face.
However, CAF on Wednesday has said that the Host will be announced within 5 days. ‘Today, CAF announced Equatorial Guinea as the as host of 2015 Africa cup of nations.’
It was their best option, even though Equatorial Guinea was disqualified from AFCON 2015 for fielding ineligible player in a qualifying match back in July, they are now taking the place of Morocco.
CAF president, Isa Hayatou expressed his grattitude to the president of Equatorial Guinea saying- “Caf wishes to express its sincere thanks to the Equatorial Guinean people, its government and particularly president Obiang.”
The draws of the final will be conducted in Malabo on December 3.
