Why not? Dubai is one of the best city in the world and famous for it’s massive infrastructural development which includes some of the world’s tallest buildings. The result is that you can now see some of the world’s tallest buildings on Google Street View.
Google decision marks the first time the internet giant is the services to Arab nation, opening the United Arab Emirate to the world view. You can now have a virtual peek into one of the world’s most famous city.
“Dubai is home to the world’s tallest tower, largest mall and the planet’s only seven-star hotel,” Mohamad Mourad, Google’s regional director for North Africa and the Middle East, wrote in a blog post. “Starting today, it can add virtual visitors to that list, as Dubai becomes the first city in an Arab country to be added to Street View in Google Maps.”
Google tells us it began mapping the city earlier this year, but took a break in the summer to avoid the city’s infamous haze and ensure clear photos.
The Street View maps cover new places like Sheikh Zayed Road, the longest street in the United Arab Emirates and the enormous Dubai Mall as well historical sites like the Deira Spice Souk and Dubai Creek.
It’s not the first time Street View has been used anywhere in the country, however. Gogole previously mapped out parts of the Liwa Desert in the Emirates — by placing its Trekker camera on camels.
