The Salary Structure Of The Nigerian Senators

The salary structure of the Nigerian senators, Nigeria is made up of 36 states, each state is divided into 3 senatorial district, giving the total number of 109 senators in Nigeria. Each Senator represents his constituency by taking the issues that affect his people  to the federal level and as well bringing solutions to those issues. In order to achieve this purpose a basic monthly salary of N2,484 245 is being paid to each senator, without the addition of various allowances which is mind blowing to many Nigerians.

Hardship Allowance (50% of Basic Salary) - N1 242 122.70

Constituency allowance (200% of Basic Salary) - N4 968 509.00

Furniture Allowance (300% of Basic Salary) - N7 452 736.50

Newspapers Allowance (50% of Basic Salary) - N1 242 122.70

Wardrobe Allowance (25% of Basic Salary) - N621 061.37

Recess Allowance (10% of Basic Salary) - N248 424.55

Accommodation (200% of Basic Salary) - N4 968 509.00

Utilities (30% of Basic Salary) - N 828 081.83

Domestic Staff (75% of Basic Salary) - N1 863 184.12

Entertainment (30% of Basic Salary) - N828 081.83

Personal Assistance (25% of Basic Salary) - N621 061.37

Vehicle Maintenance Allowance (75% of Basic Salary) - N1 863 184.12

Leave Allowance (10% of Basic Salary) - N248 424.55

Severance Gratuity (300% of Basic Salary) - N7 452 736.50

Total = N 29 479 749 * 109 Senators

Grand Total = N 3 264 329 264.10

The question is , are these Nigerian Senators actually using this money giving to them for the right purpose? If no why wasting the country resources? Considering the economic situation of the country I think it is high time for our government to start working for the benefit of every citizen of this country than lavishing the income of our dear nation on a particular group alone.
