Nigerian politicians are some of the most feared in the world but not for death. In this current out going years, Nigeria have lost a good number of astute politicians who when they where alive, dictates the direction of things in their respective states. Here is the list of Nigerian politicians who died in the year 2015.
1. Oronto Douglas
He was born in the year 1966 on the 6 of August in Bayelsa state and was among the Nigerian politicians leading by example. A leading environmental and human right lawyer, he was the deputy director of environmental right action/friends of earth, Nigeria. He has been visiting lecturer and speaker at community organized events, International conferences, and Universities all over the world. He died on the 9 of April 2015.
2. Adebowale Adefuye
Abebowale Adefuye was born on January 1947, in Ijebu-ode, he was a Nigerian historian and diplomat. He attended the University of Ibadan where graduated in 1969 and obtained PHD in the same University.
He was named the Ambassador to Jamaica in 1987, during that period, Adebowale left the post to serve as Deputy-Director of the commonwealth of Nations. He was however recalled in 2015 after Muhammed Buhari was elected as president of Nigeria. He died of a Heart Attack in Washington D.C on the 27 August 2015.
3. Audu Abubakar
Prince Audu Abubakar was born on 27th of October, 1947. Audu was twice the Governor of Kogi State, his first tenure was from January 1992 to November 1993, and the second tenure from 29th of May, 1999 to 29 of May 2003. He died of heart attack on the 22nd of November 2015 after the announcement of the election result which he was almost declared the winner.
4. Diepreye Alamieyeseigha
Diepreye Alamieyeseigha was born on the 16th of November 1952 and attended the Bishop Dimeari grammar school Yenagoa. He joined the Nigerian defence academy as a cadet officer in 1974 and later joined the Nigerian Air-force where he served in the department of logistics and supply. He held various positions in the Air-force, especially in Enugu, Makurdi, Kaduna, and Ikeja.
Alamieyeseigha retired from the Air-Force in 1992 as a squadron leader. After leaving the Air-Force, he became the sole Administrator of padob supplies, Port-Harcourt. Later he became the head of Budget, planning, research and development at the National Fertilizer company (NAFCON). He died on the 10th of october 2015 due to complication arising from High Blood Pressure and Diabetes which affected his Kidney.
5. Zannah Mustapha
Alhaji Zannah Mustapha was born in the year 1966. He later became the Deputy Governor of Borno State, Nigeria and died at the prime age of 49. He was a Naval personnel before he resigned in 1993 to start personal business. He became chief executive of a clearing and forwarding business he setup in Lagos.
He later joined politics with the return of democracy in 1999 and contested for the position of chairman of Biu-Local-Government council under the platform of the (PDP) but lost the contest.
He re-contested the position in 2015 alongside Governor Kashim Shettima and won for the second term. However he died in his sleep on the 15th of August 2015.
6. HID Awolowo
Hannah Idowu Dideolu Awolowo was born in the year 1915 in Nigeria. She was a successful business woman and astute politician and played an active role in the politics of western Nigeria. She stood in for her husband in the Alliance formed between the (NCNC) and the AG, called the United Progressive Grand Alliance (UP GA) while he was tried and jailed.
She was the first to import Lace materials and other textile into Nigeria. She died on 19th of September 2015 just two months short to her 100 years birthday. Mrs. Awolowo was laid to rest beside her husband in Ikenne on the 25 November 2015.
