The wife of the President of Nigeria, Dame Patience Jonathan has appealed to the Oloris in Ekiti State to speak to their people back home to vote her husband Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan back into office in the forthcoming Presidential election.
Speaking in Ewi's Palace in Ado-Ekiti during her campaign visit to Ekiti-State, Dame Jonathan who noted that the roles of the Oloris in decision making in their various domain cannot be over-emphasized, urged them to ensure that the women-friendly Jonathan's administration is returned to power.
The President's wife affirmed that the President believes that women has a major role to play in the development of the nation hence his ensuring that 16 out of the 42 seats in the federal executive council are occupied by women.
She stated that women has never had it so good before the advent of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in the Nation, promising to ensure that more welfare packages will be given women if re-elected.
The first lady described the Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Peter Ayodele as a pillar of support to the President and the Party, expressing appreciation to him for identifying with them.
In her remarks, the President of the Oloris in Ekiti State, Eyesorun Abosede Adejugbe expressed appreciation to the President's wife for her contributions towards the development of the nation in term of promotion of peace and empowerment of womenfolk, describing her as the pillar behind her husband.
She promised on behalf of other Oloris to join hands with the governor of the state in crafting the President's name on the heart of all Ekiti people, soliciting that Ekiti women be carried along and given their due in the new administration if re-elected.
The highpoint of the event was prayer for the President's wife by the Oloris folled by presentation of gifts.
