The request was made through his lawyer, Barrister Vincent Egechukwu Obeta yesterday at the resumed hearing on the terrorism case brought against him by the Nigerian government.
His lawyers argued that transferring him to the prison will give quicker and direct access to his counsels. The application was made yesterday shortly after Department of State Security (DSS) asked court to transfer the case to a more competent court of law, arguing that the magistrate court lacked the jurisdiction to to handle terrorism related cases.
Meanwhile, a good number of the pro Biafra supporter stormed the court, wearing Biafran T-Shirts and weaving the Biafra banners in support of their leader. They also called on the federal government of Nigeria to release Mr. Kanu with immediate effect.
