Kano shut markets, offices over voters registration card

Vanguard KANO - Major markets and offices within Kano metropolis were shut by Government Friday to enable residents obtain their Permanent Voter's Card (PVC).

The measure was in line with the work free day declared by Government Thursday to ginger awareness and full participation by city dwellers for the important electoral exercise.

However there was no restrictions of both human and vehicular movement but reports from across the 44 local government areas of the state indicate that residents are to remain within their locality up to 2.00pm before venturing out.

Early reports across the state indicates heavy turnout of prospective voters waiting patiently to commence issuance of the voter cards.

Lagos State Governor, Mr Babatunde Fashola, yesterday declared today 7 of November a work free day to enable workers to obtain their voters registration cards.
