President Goodluck Jonathan has assured Nigerians that the new general election dates set aside by the country’s Independence National Electoral Commission, INEC, was sacrosanct.
He gave the assurance at the Catholic Bishops’ plenary Assembly mass held at the Catholic Pro-Cathedral in Abuja.
President Jonathan said his administration had nothing to hide and was not going to truncate democracy in Nigeria through any alleged means of interim government.

The theme of this year’s Catholic Bishops Conference is “Good family makes good nation”, which formed the basis of the Cardinal’s message, urging Nigerians to return to the family values of honesty, peace, love, unity and religious harmony.
