Twitter is a multi-billion dollar industry that heads much of the social media world, and it was recently bought out by a large billionaire many of you have heard of. What’s going on with this platform, what are the changes to come, and how did it get bought? Let’s talk all about it to get you updated on the latest happenings with Twitter.
Elon Musk is now the owner of Twitter. You heard it. You’ve probably heard this already in droves as people try to figure out what is happening to his version of the app and company as time goes by. He purchased Twitter for many billions of dollars and now has control.

Since his takeover, big statements have been made by this man about what will happen. Some have been very nerve-inducing for most bystanders watching the progress, and some are neutral or seemingly positive. Twitter becoming a “true free speech app” seems to be his priority.
What this means seems to vary across different theories and plans. Free speech is a common concept across the United States, and it can have its benefits and dangers in how it’s executed. Generally the rule means freedom of speech without harming others, but that gets gray often.
Actions have started quickly as far as happenings from Musk regarding Twitter executive decisions and changes. He banned many accounts regarding the issues of child trafficking and child endangerment or human endangerment, many based in India.
European officials seem to be getting icy with Elon though as Russia’s leader Putin takes to social media platforms like Twitter to spread his intentions and thoughts. Much of EU’s leaders are calling to Elon to censor or remove propaganda from Putin, but nothing has been done.
Algorithm tweaks have been consistently in the process since his acquisition of Twitter. He’s trying to make changes regarding what content people see of their following or non-following profiles and how the automatic systems behind the scenes work.
There has definitely been plenty of drama as well. Elon has called out platforms like Apple for threatening to remove Twitter from their app store, but then backtracked to say nothing of the sort happened later on. It seems to be an unstable situation at best when it comes to relationships.

Plenty of banned accounts from censorships and bad behavior on the app were unbanned by Elon Musk in the thousands since he started working on the app. Along with this comes much push for making sure that users are safe from hate and misuse of free speech, that has been ignored.
Honestly, there’s a lot of big unknowns in this process. Elon seems to be on a roll with whatever he wants to achieve in his work on ownership of Twitter and shares little pieces with the public as we watch what happens over time. Nobody can truly say whether it’ll be positive or negative.
Even for those that don’t particularly use this platform, learning about it can be important to ensuring you stay up to date on how the world around you may function or behave. Often these social media places become the starting point for large mindsets and groups online and staying informed is definitely helpful. Hopefully you learned something new!
