UN pledges relief materials for insurgence victims in North-East

The United Nations Humanitarian team has pledged to provide relief materials for victims of insurgency in the North-East.

The head of the UN humanitarian team, Mr. John Ging, made the promise today during a visit to the Director-General of National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, in Abuja.

Mr. Ging said the team has assessed the situation of the Internally Displace Persons, IDPs. in the North-East and would collaborate with the Agency to provide assistance.

The Director-General of NEMA said over one million persons have been displaced in the North-East due to insurgency.

Mallam Sidi said the team has visited the various camps in the North-East to assess the areas of support to the IDPs. He therefore commended the Nigerian Armed Forces for their efforts in restoring peace to the area.
