U23 National team hit with age cheat crisis

Nigeria U23, male National football team, has been hit with age cheat claims which led to some players being sent away from the camp.

Led by coach Samson Siasia, 10 players suspected to be above the age bracket have been decamped by the technical crew of the U23  national team.

Notable player dropped was Emem Eduok, the most valuable player in federation cup and also the top scorer in the league. He was credited with two different birth dates, both of which put him in the desired age bracket.

The media officer for Nigeria U23 side, Timi Ebikagboro, confirmed the dropping of Eduok also stating that all selected players must come with their international passports when reporting to camp on the 4th of January. "Glo Nigeria Premier League players (are) to add license."

The media spokesperson, also revealed that Coach Siasia, has declared that only players born after January 1, 1993 will be eligible to report to camp, which has already witnessed over 1,000 interested players.
