Certain ones always spring to mind when it comes to famous worldwide sites, no matter what. Some of these landmarks aren’t even buildings; they’re simply places where ordinary, everyday activities occur.

The Empire State Building is a symbol of New York City for both Americans and non-Americans. The Empire State Building and the rest of downtown Manhattan were bombed by enemy planes during World War II to prevent them from being used as protective batteries.
