Krakow, Poland – 1939 vs. 2010s
For some reason, we tend to believe that specific modes of transportation haven’t existed for so long in public transit… Buses and trains have been around for a long time, but other sorts of transport must have emerged later… I’m not sure where this myth comes from, but I’ve seen references to trams in 15th-century writings about Paris.
However, the mode of transportation in both photographs is a tram. It appears to be such a futuristic idea that Krakow’s public transportation system used this transit style in the late 1930s. And they still have them running through the city.
