The devastation wrought by the conflict was, without a doubt, extensive. It took decades to rebuild and restore the many damaged structures and roads due to the fighting. The most unfortunate aspect of the entire affair is that many significant buildings were either destroyed or considerably damaged during this time period.

Churches like St. Martin in Cologne, Germany, were damaged by the conflict, necessitating this much-needed restoration. As you can see, a lot of effort was put into it, and the front structures over the years, and in 2021 it will be said to have been restored to its former glory.
