When your boss gives you a little something enjoyable at work, it might appear as though they are genuinely concerned about your wellbeing. There’s nothing more essential for a business than to have employees who believe they are valued. However, when the gesture comes with a list of what not to do – and a caution – you may not feel so enthusiastic about this supposed treat.

According to the sign on this desk, employees have been meticulously instructed in red markers to which cookies they are allowed to eat. What if someone wants a tiny cookie and only finds it at the bottom of the pile? Do they have to throw half of the cookie away? Whatever management desires are accomplished. How did eating cookies become such an unpleasant experience?
